Individual Construction

Volunteering on the Build Site

How old do you have to be?

To work on our construction site you MUST be 16 or older. Those under 16 can paint and landscape, however if you are under 16 you MUST call our offices first.

All minors (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult and fill out a Minor Release and Waiver of Liability Form.

Do I need experience?

NO! All skill levels are welcome. Our trained staff will help you along the way.

How much time do I have to commit?

Sites are open Tuesday-Saturday, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. You may volunteer an entire day or a half a day.

What do I do when I get to the Build Site?

Please arrive promptly at 8:30 am for task assignments. You can find the Habitat Home by looking for the white Habitat for Humanity sign and look for a Site Supervisor wearing an HFH Shirt. At this time you will sign in and receive a saftey briefing.

What type of work will I be doing?

Nearly every facet of home construction including: framing, painting, roofing, landscaping and more. If you have any particular skills please let our Site Supervisor know at the briefing. Also if you are not comfortable doing any particular task, just let the supervisor know. They will find something for you to do.

What should I wear?

It is important that you wear closed toe shoes, work boots or sneakers preferred, and comfortable breathable work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bermuda style shorts are suggested.

Do I need to bring anything?

You should bring a lunch, wear sunscreen and a hat, and if you have work gloves bring those as well. We provide all the tools, hard hats and water on site.

Where are the Build Sites located?

We build all over Palm Beach County N. of Hypoluxo to the Martin County line.  Exact addresses and locations will be provided to you when you register on our online calendar.
