home preservation

Do you own a home and need help with repairs or cosmetic improvements?

Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County offers two different programs to help homeowners preserve and repair their homes. In addition, we partner with organizations to provide a holistic approach to improving communities.

A Brush with Kindness helps low-income families improve the cosmetic appearance of the exterior of their homes. The cost of these improvements is up to $5,000.

Critical Home Repairs provides more substantial repair services to those in needs and repairs can be up to $10,000. Repairs address code violations, safety issues and accessibility improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Home must be owned and occupied by applicant
  • Income qualification is less than 80% of area median income
  • Willingness to partner with Habitat – Homeowners must repay based on income and affordability and be willing to participate with eight hours of volunteer “sweat equity” labor, depending on scope of work.
  • Work may be completed by Habitat volunteers under the supervision of our skilled construction staff.

A Brush with Kindness and Critical Home Repair are NOT emergency programs.

There is a waiting period before work will begin.
Applications are accepted quarterly, January, April, July and October
