What is considered a group?
Habitat for Humanity defines a group build as individuals related to a civic, school, or faith-based organization. For volunteers related to corporate entities, please click here for more information.
How many volunteers are considered a group?
A group consists of 5 or more volunteers with a maximum of 20 per site. So if you have a group of 40, then the group could work on 2 sites if they are available.
What will we be doing on the build site?
You could be doing any aspect of construction including: framing, roofing, painting, landscaping, installing windows and doors, flooring and more.
Can we choose the task we want to do?
Unfortunately not, we find that the date groups want is more important than the work they are doing. All aspects of construction are equally important and needed. When you arrive you may have several tasks to choose from. If you have anyone in the group who is not comfortable with the task for the day just let the site supervisor know and they will find something for you to do.
What days and times can our group volunteer?
Our construction crew works Tues-Sat. from 8:00 am-3:00 pm. Weekdays are usually available and Saturdays fill up quickly.
What do we bring?
Please bring your lunch and work gloves
if you have them. We provide water, tools, hard hats and FUN!
What should we wear?
Closed toe shoes are a MUST! Wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. We also recommend a hat and sunscreen, even on cooler days.
How can our group be guaranteed a volunteer day?
We are thankful to have so many enthusiastic volunteers. In general, our construction sites are booked with volunteer groups about 2 months in advance on Saturdays. We do offer priority scheduling for groups who are donors.
