History of Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County, Inc.
September 1976 Habitat international is formed by Millard and Linda Fuller. The Fullers move to Americus, Ga., and open Habitat's first headquarters.
October 1986 J.B. Bramuchi, a retired General Contractor, and friends formed the Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County affiliate. The office was set up in a Sunday School classroom at Wagg Memorial Methodist Church in West Palm Beach.
1988 The affiliates first home was completed for the Bivens Family in West Palm Beach. The land was donated from the City of West Palm Beach.
August 1989 The affiliates first Executive Director, Dale Hoteling was hired. The affiliates second home was completed for the Tolbert Family in West Palm Beach. The land for this home was donated from the City of West Palm Beach.
August 1990
The affiliate relocated to it's own office space at 1241 Okeechobee Rd. in West Palm Beach.
1996 The affiliate completed it's 11th Habitat home.
2000 The affiliate completed it's 20th Habitat home.
January 2005
The affiliate merged with Lighthouse Habitat for Humanity (Jupiter affiliate) which: expanded the affiliate boundary lines to the Martin County Line, expanded the number of Habitat homes. and acquired the Habitat Thrift Store.
September 2005
The affiliate opened the doors to it's first ReStore, A home improvement resale outlet in the Westgate area of West Palm Beach.
June 2006
The affiliate participated in Builder's Blitz and had a home completed in just 5 days with Transeastern & Engle Homes
July 2006
The affiliate opened the doors to it's 15,000 Sq. ft. ReStore, a home improvement resale outlet.
October 2006
The affiliate celebrated it's 20th year and the completion of 64 homes.
January 2007
The Westgate Village project begins! This is a 14 home subdivision, located in the Westgate area of West Palm Beach.
January 2008
The Kennedy Estates project begins! This is a 27 home subdivision, located in the Jupiter Gardens area of Jupiter, donated by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
